In the late 1880s Butte boomed as a copper mining town, it was once called The Richest Hill on Earth. The most successful mine owners were known as the Copper Kings. The Copper Kings 100 is a 100 mile single loop course starts and ends at the Belmont Mine in Butte and includes 63 miles of the wonderful Continental Divide Trail. The elevation at the start is 5,650 ft, the highest point is at 8,400 feet, and you will enjoy a total of 14,400 feet of vertical gain and loss. ## Pacers - Pacers may join their runner beginning at mile 46.2 Homestake Pass - Pacers starting from Homestake Pass, mile 46.2, must go to Nez Perce, mile 75.8 - Pacers may not stop or switch at Our Lady of the Rockies - Runners may have one pacer at a time - Pacers must remain with their runner. No dropping pacers! - Crew/pacers (multiple people) may accompany their runner from the Mountain Con mine (3.5 miles to finish) or the Anselmo mine (2.2 miles to finish) to the finish line ## Crew Rules - Each runner’s crew is limited to one vehicle. Aid station parking is limited! - No crew vehicles over 26 feet in length. No RVs or vehicles towing trailers. - No crew allowed at Pipestone Pass (mile 37.0) - No crew allowed at Our Lady of the Rockies (mile 58.4) - Crew is allowed at Nez Perce (mile 75.8), but first go to staging area until runner is close to Nez Perce.
